Machinist Drydock

Pacific Ocean | Guam

Construction equipment
Due to adverse weather conditions, the 825-foot drydock sank in Apra Harbor, Guam, settling in 70 feet of water, exceeding its safe working depth. During the incident, the drydock was undergoing extensive repairs, including pontoon deck plating replacement. A significant portion of the internal pumping system was inoperable due to the ongoing repairs and sinking.

Resolve Marine devised a comprehensive engineering plan for the complex wet salvage operation. Traditional tank de-watering through pumping was unfeasible and risked hull failure. To address this challenge, Resolve Marine's experts devised a novel air-pressure assisted system to de-water the ballast tanks and re-float the drydock.

Collaborating with Guam Shipyard, Resolve Marine executed extensive underwater repairs on large maintenance cut-outs in the deck. They also installed a dozen high-capacity salvage pumps and established an air system. This meticulous process successfully resulted in the re-floating of the drydock without any incidents.
