In the early morning on March 2019, Resolve Marine Alaska received a call requesting assistance for a distressed fishing vessel with engine trouble approximately 9 miles out of Dutch Harbor near Cheerful Bay. Having two response vessels at the ready in Alaska, the response team was able to immediately mobilize the Makushin Bay Towing Tug to access the drifting fishing vessel as it headed into a shallow water nearing a grounding situation. The Makushin Bay’s proximity enabled the team to reach the fishing vessel in a timely fashion where lines were connected for a tow Back to Dutch Harbor. In heavy seas, the crew and equipment performed flawlessly, rescuing the stricken vessel without incident.
Alaska fishing vessels are diverse in their ability to navigate open ocean and coast lines. Resolve Marine understands Alaska’s diverse needs and has the asset, teams and experience to respond and mitigate situations before they escalate.
