Resolve Marine and Navigators are two companies that have grown closer over time. “We started working with Resolve in 2004, when they were a small operation,” says Chris Piazza, Navigators Vice President and New York Marine Manager. “Now we write seven different policies for Resolve, insuring a global leader in salvage, emergency response and training.”
The reason for this significant growth in the relationship during the last 15 years? Resolve’s broker, Steve Candilora, managing director of Marsh’s Global Marine Practice, credits Navigators’ nimbleness with strengthening the longstanding partnership. “Navigators has the deep knowledge of marine underwriting and flexibility required to insure a client with such diverse and changing needs as those of Resolve Marine,” he explains.
A shared open-mindedness to taking on new challenges has cemented the relationship between broker, carrier and insured. Peter Robinson, commercial manager at Resolve Marine, says Navigators has excelled at addressing their changing needs and supporting the company’s expansion into new areas. “Their responsiveness to meeting our special insurance requirements has meant we could take on new challenges that have fueled our growth,” says Peter.
Of course, Navigators’ depth of experience in marine insurance has been a crucial factor in the companies’ solid partnership, too. “When I think about the kind of work we’ve done together,” says Chris, “insuring activities as different as towing an aircraft carrier or a cruise ship, to purposely sinking a training vessel to create an artificial reef, to raising a fully armed Indian Navy submarine from a harbor bottom—it reminds me that these are not your everyday underwriting challenges!”
