RESOLVE OVERSEES MASSIVE GLOBAL MOBILIZATION EFFORTS TO REMOVE CARGO AND WRECK OF RO-RO FERRY AMADEO 1

The Nine-Month Job Included Parbuckling and Scuttling The Vessel off The Coast of Chile

In October 2014, Resolve was contracted to provide cargo & wreck removal services. Overseeing a massive mobilization, Resolve moved assets from across the globe including the 134T BP tug Resolve Earl, the 78T BP tug Resolve Commander, and the deck cargo barges, RMG 302 and RMG 280. Resolve’s custom-built 325MT hydraulic chain pullers and various other salvage equipment were mobilized as well from Resolve’s warehouses in Mobile, Fort Lauderdale, Cork, Singapore, and Mumbai.

The remoteness of the location meant that limited resources were available so coordinating logistics proved a crucial aspect of the operation. Salvage Master Andy Butts and the crew worked tirelessly in freezing conditions for four months to successfully parbuckle and refloat the vessel, ensuring the safe removal and disposal of HAZMAT cargo, residual oils, cargo, trucks, trailers and other vehicles onboard. Resolve’s high standards for pollution control and remediation – elevated from experience in New Zealand – helped to comply with Chile’s stringent environmental regulations.
