A private, family-owned company, Resolve Marine was founded by Joseph E. Farrell, Jr., a U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Navy veteran. Farrell acquired his first tug and served as captain and owner as he launched his marine salvage operation in Florida and the Caribbean in the early ‘80s. Resolve Marine was established in 1984.2024

- The U.S. Federal government enacts the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA 90), legislation to prevent, respond and pay for oil pollution incidents in navigable waters of the United States. The legislation following the Exxon Valdez incident in 1989, transforms regulation of maritime transportation within U.S. waters
