Battleship New Jersey
Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, Pennsylvania | United States

Our team provided pumping equipment and mobilized to Paulsboro Marine Terminal for initial ballasting work. Using 6-inch pumps to ballast a series of tanks in the bow, the Big J’s trim was reduced from over 10 feet to approximately four feet. When Big J was safely on blocks at the drydock, Resolve Marine used the 6-inch pumps to help support the drydock pumping operation and commenced de-ballasting work using 4-inch pumps. After the 500,000 gallons of water had been de-ballasted, Resolve Marine worked with the Battleship New Jersey Foundation to remove an estimated 20,000 gallons of rainwater located throughout the vessel that had accumulated over the years.
When the Battleship New Jersey was ready for the fleeting operation, Resolve Marine again worked to ballast the bow to ensure a more even trim for the fleeting. Upon departure from the drydock, Resolve Marine again conducted deballasting operations – as well as conducted stripping of the tanks / compartments to ensure that the Big J would be “museum ready.”
