The Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited Drydock 1 (248.73m long x 45.00m wide and 7,300 metric tons) suffered flooding of the safety deck and associated machinery spaces and pump rooms during Hurricane Dorian. Prior to the arrival of Hurricane Dorian, DD1 was ballasted down in preparations for the hurricane. After the storm has past, the DD1 was found to be resting on the sea floor and both the north and south side safety deck and associated machinery spaces were found to be flooded.

Resolve Marine was contracted to refloat the dry dock. The team worked in consort with shipyard staff and utilized local equipment and fabrication facilities to construct the salvage patches. Any points of ingress were patched and 12x high-capacity electric submersible pumps were installed. These were used in conjunction with the DD1’s onboard pumping system to refloat the dock. Once the drydock was brought to the surface the remainder of the tanks were stripped and additional patches were installed. The DD1 was then safely redelivered back to the client.
