Tanker Collision
Port Arthur, TX | United States
The 95,663 dwt tanker collided with a barge in the Sabine-Neches waterway spilling approximately 450,000 gallons of crude oil. Resolve Marine, mobilized equipment that included portable fire pumps, lightering pumps and intrinsically safe powerpacks to the casualty. During the initial survey of the wreck, the barge dislodged itself from the tanker due to shifting tides. Upon further assessment, Resolve Marine's salvage master and naval architect discovered that oil had penetrated the number 1 ballast tank. Resolve Marine composed a comprehensive plan to remove the oil and decontaminate the ballast tank so that the casualty could be safely transported. Working closely with USCG Incident Command, Resolve Marine stabilized the vessel and successfully lightered the ship.
