South America | Chile

The 132-meter RoRo cargo ferry Amadeo 1 experienced a starboard breach, leading to capsizing in Chile's Kirke Canal. Despite challenges, 28 crew members managed the flooding. After a successful rescue operation, the vessel's owner engaged an emergency response organization for fuel removal.

A pollution containment boom was deployed, and Resolve Marine promptly mobilized a multinational team from the United States, the United Kingdom, Gibraltar, Ireland, India, Singapore, and New Zealand.
Resolve Marine executed a salvage operation, including parbuckling, refloating, cleaning, and scuttling off Chile's coast. Assets included Resolve Monarch (152-ton bollard pull tug), Resolve Earl (135-ton bollard pull tug), and deck cargo barges RMG 302 and RMG 280. Hydraulic Power Units with 300 metric ton chain pullers, along with 30 equipment containers, ensured operational efficiency.

The Amadeo 1 wreck removal involves three main phases:

  • Mobilizing assets on-site
  • Parbuckling the vessel
  • Towing the vessel off-site
