Battleship Texas
Texas | United States

Over the years, the blister tanks corroded with water that freely passed between tanks and the vessel’s inner hull. More than 30 portable pumps were installed to continually pump out the water, however, new leaks continued to spring up and access to the general public was closed.
Resolve Marine was approached to provide a solution to repair, stabilize and tow the vessel to drydock for further repairs. In 2020, phase I of our work involved applying ~25,000 gallons of foam into 22 blister and stern tanks - or 625,000 gallons of expanded foam - providing 2,350 long tons of buoyancy. Specialized rope access rescue teams were utilized to lower and raise personnel. To keep the vessel afloat, divers patched and repaired over 100 leaks. In 2022, phase 2 of the project involved preparing and safely towing Battleship Texas to drydock. The tow was conducted down the Houston ship channel to Gulf Copper in Galveston, Texas.
The Battleship Texas Foundation continues to raise money for restoring the vessel before it can be reopened to the public.
