Containership Cargo Collapse

When a container stowage collapsed during inclement weather in transit from Singapore to Suez, Egypt, 34 containers dislodged with several protruding overboard; two with dangerous cargo. Several containers were damaged in such a way that doors were open and side shell/bottom plating was damaged.  

Resolve Marine deployed an emergency response team to Djibouti Africa consisting of salvage master, salvage officer, naval architect, marine chemist, rope access specialists and marine firefighters. The containership was brought alongside a terminal where the emergency response team worked with local authorities to safely facilitate the removal of damaged containers using the gantry cranes located at the terminal. 

Most of the damaged containers were removed after arriving at the terminal. One severely crushed container packed with drums of flammable liquid required special handling and was removed by the response team at another facility in Jeddah Saudi Arabia.
