Resolve Academy Expands Classroom and Training Facilities

Resolve Academy's T/V Resolve Vision Training Vessel
New Facility Increases Marine Training Capacity and Adds Indoor Pool, Firefighting Simulator, the M/V Resolve Vision, Reconstructed
November 15, 2023 – Fort Lauderdale, FL – Resolve Marine, a global leader in ship and vessel salvage, emergency response, and specialized marine services, today announced the expansion of Resolve Academy, the company’s marine training and firefighting school.

On November 20, 2023, Resolve Academy will move to 750 West Sunrise Blvd., a site that expands capacity by five-fold and increases training capabilities. Total classroom capacity will now serve up to 100 students in five classrooms. The indoor pool facility allows Resolve Academy to conduct the practical water survival training component of STCW, STCW Revalidation, as well as custom water courses, and opens the door for new water-based survival courses.

Resolve Academy trains approximately 1,750 students annually and since opening in 1994, has trained nearly 60,000 students. There are eight full-time staff and instructors and 23 part-time instructors. Resolve Academy’s instructors are all career mariners both civilian and military, firefighting and first response professionals, or former U.S. Coast Guardsmen. Courses are offered to individuals entering or advancing in the maritime industry and custom courses have been created for B2B clients, including Royal Caribbean Cruises and Celebrity Cruises, among others. Year-to-date in 2023, the Academy has trained more than a dozen fire departments responsible for major seaports in the United States and Canada.

Resolve Academy also re-envisioned and rebuilt its firefighting simulator, formerly the T/V Gray Manatee, renaming and christening it the T/V Resolve Vision. Located inside Port Everglades, the 150-foot LOA mock training vessel has been refurbished and expanded, providing ‘as real as it gets’ conditions featuring confined spaces and low visibility while also utilizing live fire. Four additional live fire simulators are on the training facility’s exterior decks. Additionally, Resolve Academy has integrated its Damage Control Solutions Trainer into the “hull of the ship” to provide students flooding simulation training. By incorporating both the fire and flooding aspects of training, Resolve Academy offers students unique and realistic perspectives of an emergency at sea and response options.

Lana Farrell, Executive Director said, “Our mission is to provide participants with training that exceeds the standards of the maritime industry.  We offer state-of-the-art emergency simulators involving live fire and active water ingress, utilizing top specialists in the field of maritime safety training to deliver realistic and hands-on training for real-world emergency response scenarios.”
