Case Study

When a 150-ton railcar toppled over while transporting a 420-ton generator within the Port of Charleston, South Carolina, Resolve Marine was contacted to assist in leading a complex heavy lift operation.

Following an initial assessment, a period of pre-project planning and engineering commenced in preparation for the full mobilization of personnel and equipment required to complete the heavy lift recovery and righting operations of the railcar and generator. After procurement of additional equipment, our onsite team designed, fabricated, and installed custom lifting pad eyes to safely facilitate the lifting and recovery operation.

The team coordinated closely with a local resource partner to outfit and prepare a deck barge capable of safely receiving both generator and railcar. The generator was successfully removed, uprighted, and returned to the customer. The railcar was similarly removed, righted, and transported back into the port for redelivery and repair using modular transporters.
